Kevin and his Drinkin' Bunny

ALTAMONT Tears It Up

Altamont was great last night at Spaceland, L.A.! They played new songs from the upcoming Man's Ruin release and some older stuff as well. Not much of a crowd by the time Altamont was up. One of the opening bands' didn't make it and the other two just didn't seem to go w/Altamont. Tape (quasi militant rap-metal posers) and Autolux (emo-brit pop stylee). Local bands, I believe. Dan said the new release is being finished up. Mackie's doing art again. I was shocked---Joey chopped his hair off. He's now sporting the clean-cut look. He's still one hell of a pounder and one hell of a nice guy! (I owe him a drink, next time.) His wife is a very nice lady, too. The guys in the band were nice enough to sign my Civil War Fantasy cd booklet.

Kevin arrived with his very sweet wife. He had a toy rubber bunny that reminded me of the Electro Hilter rabbit. Maybe an upcoming merch product, Mr R? Kevin was having lots of fun with that bunny. That bunny "absorbed" an entire martini in minutes!

Dave showed up after three days recording Vaz. Can't say it enough, he's one friendly dude. Said he'll definitely be on the Melvins March tour and the US spring tour. He'll be using a new guitar he threw together for the upcoming shows.

Speaking of Buzz, I didn't see him. Dave said he'd been working with Fantomas.

Dale was telling me about a show the Melvins are doing in Paris on the Euro Tour. They're playing Lysol live along to this artist's movie. I can't remember the artist's name, somebody help me, please. The movie is backyard wrestling. This guy has performed the movie with the Lysol release in the past. This will be the first time with the Melvins performing live. I'm not sure if it's the entire release. I got the impression it's "Hung Bunny/Roman Bird Dog". They're hoping to do this collaboration again in L.A. and who knows, if it goes well, they may do more. Dale also said, depending on how March goes, they may return to Europe in the Fall. I was happy to meet Dale's fairer half, also.

I was confused, but Dale set me straight that "Interstellar Overdrive" on Electroretard is the same as the single version, w/Mark D. The RMS 2000 they all used on the release is basically a noise making synthesizer they threw together. Alot of the trippy sounds on the release were done with it.
